How to download and play psp games

If you put anything in your psp, like files and folders erase them, it will less confuse you but don't erase anything else that it came with.

1. Goto the download section of this site and get 2 programs called UMDEMULATOR and FASTLOADER.8C or what other version they have.

2. Unzip that in a folder in you computer using winrar/or my favorite pkzip and unzip(dos based and harder to use) <-mother of all zippers, like doom being the mother of FPS.

3. After you unzip, lets say UMDEMULATOR, you might find the umdemulator come with two version, one for 1.00 and one for 1.50, chose the one your psps firmware has.

4. Connect your psp using a USB to the computer, and find the letter of the hardrive. You will notice it in MY Computer.

5. Double CLick ****IMPORTANT**** THIS IS THE ROOT DRIVE OF YOUR PSP*********

6. NOtice all the file folders you have. THere is one called x:/PSP/GAME (x is the letter drive of your psp).

7. Once inside x:/psp/game/ switch back to your computer and find the folder where you unzipped either UMDEMULATOR or FASTLOADER.

8. As you have seen, FASTLOADER OR UMDEMULATOR both comes with two sets of folders, something like Fastloader% and Fastloader1 or UMDEMULATOR% and UMDEMULATOR1. (note each set has a file called eboot.pfb) sometimes it may have more. DOn't worry about that!


9. Copy each set and then goto the psp x:\psp\game and paste it.

Officially you have a program that is ready to work. To test it. Disconnect your usb connection, goto games, to memory stick on your psp and bam, there it is. Run it and see.

Once you understand this, then make sure you have UMDEMULATOR, FASTLOADER and DEVHOOK. (same process)
Later one when you try more games you will see umdemulator and Fastloader are not sufficient for certain games and DEVHOOK takes care of the other two, most of the time, have not come across any that it hasn't or don't.

Now goto the the root directory of your psp, remember what I said what the root directory of your psp was. Many people get confused with this. THe first screen that pops up when you connect your psp. It has the folders called PSP MP_ROOT, DCIM and some files.

Now notice you also have folders called ISO, You might also have a folder alled ISOMISC and ISOSPLIT. Its fine, you are doing good!!!!.

OK. DOwnload a game, which may come in the form of something (filename.iso) which can also be extracted with winrar but sometimes it doesn't come in the form of an ISO extension. If you did, then thats good, work is done for you and no need to extract.

Now put that game file with extension something.ISO in your psp with the folder that is called ISO and this folder is found in the ROOT DIRECTORY OF YOUR PSP.

Once that is done, run any of the programs, and you will see the name, press x or o, and there u go, have fun.

What happens when the game does not come in the form of ISO?

YOu need to make that file into a an ISO which can be done using VCDROMX, now someone has already explained this in great detail at

download the VCDROMX, install it on your hardrive and follow the tutorials, its barney style with graphics.

In the end your will get two files but you want the file with extension something.ISO.

Copy that ISO to the ISO folder of your psp. So anytime you download a game that does not come in the form of an something.ISO, I use VCDROMX to make it into that form and bam.
